Один з читачів надіслав мені листа щодо заяви пані Тимошенко про те, що рівень падіння економіки у нас в середині за розвитком кризових явищ.

У зв'язку з чим він надає таблицю порівняння темпів падіння обсягів промислового виробництва в Україні, Росії та Казахстані. Розміщую увесь текст листа читача без змін. Коментарі тут зайві.

I took a look at what Tymoshenko said yesterday on Ukraine's economic performance in Jan-09 if compared with key CIS countries (Russsia and Kazakhstan). Full text (in Ukrainian) of the news is here .

She said in particular that Ukraine's industrial decline was in average compared with Russia and Kazakhstan and it was 16.1%, while in these respective countries it was 19.9% and 10.4%. Hence, she concluded that Ukraine is somewhere in the midst of the critical conditions. What she did not (intentionally?) mention is that data she provided was of month-on-month basis, however, the year-on-year data appears more revealing (see below). No doubt she (or her speech writer) takes only favorable data leaving the ugly ones for someone else.
